The World Bank has given a green signal to the Project Preparation Facility Advance for the e-Bharat Project of the Government of India under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). World Bank is willing to consider a loan of US$ 300 million under the first phase of funding for e-Bharat project.

The World Bank has given an advance payment of three million dollars for the e-Bharat project for preparatory activities including capacity building; Project Preparation, Preparatory activities at identified States and Central Ministries.

The government's NeGP envisions to bring governance at the door- steps of the citizens through the common service delivery outlets. Such initiatives would ensure efficiency, transparency and reliability of government services at affordable costs. They will help in realising the basic needs of the common man of the country. NeGP is being carried out through various Mission Mode Projects (MMPs), capacity building in government, creation of institutional structures through public private partnerships and policy reforms in public service delivery.
