Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) announced that people can check the status of their building plan applications online. They have to log onto the CMDA website and collect all the necessary details.
This initiative is a stepping stone for the city's e-Governance plans. CMDA would computerise scrutiny of applications for special buildings (ground plus three floors). The National Informatics Centre has developed a software which has been used for this purpose.
However, the scrutiny of the applications will be done manually by the officials of the Authority. But all the information will be stored in a didgitised format in the computer and a computer-generated acknowledgment would be given to the applicant at the time of submission of the papers. The applicant would receive a unique login ID and password for this purpose. He can use this ID for accessing the CMDA website and collect information about a particular file.
The CMDA has also established a kiosk in its office with a person dedicated for this to give asistance to the visitors for operating the equipment.
