In a move for becoming communication friendly, the Lower House of the Indian Parliament — Lok Sabha has collaborated with enterprise mobile messaging services provider – ValueFirst which will enable the House to keep in contact with its members.

Speaking about the tie – up, ValueFirst Country Head and Co-founder Vijay Shukla said, “The Lok Sabha Secretariat would use the messaging services to communicate with internal stakeholders and public alike with critical information directly, using this service. The system would enable them to send messages to multiple mobile phones covering all service providers in India.”

This system will also serve as a link for sending out messages to the media. These messages will be be delivered and received in real time.

This system may help in finding a solution to bridge the gap of communication especially during the “no session period”. With this the members of both the houses and Parliament of India can communicate via this system. Additionally, the system is also expected to find an optimum solution for various routine communications; such as between Secretariat and Members and Secretariat and general public.

SMS as a means of communication is used by politcial parties for mobilising voters during elections. Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party had used mobile services for enabling communication amongst the party workers.
