In order to know about the exact size of land plots, the latitude, longitude, evenness of fields and precise location as well as land altitudes and elevation, the farmers in Tajikistan will use Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology system.

The International Finance Corporation launched a new initiative which will help the farmers in Southern Tajikistan to improve land measuring practices.

The technology will help in better utilisation of funds for purchasing seeds, fertilisers and pesticides. The new technology will also help improve water supply and field irrigation.

Problems such as limited agricultural knowledge and weak management skills will be reduced with the use of such technology. Loans from banks would be easier to get as the banks require precise land sizes.

TojikSoridotBonk and First Microfinance Bank are involved in the project which expands access to finance for cotton farmers in Southern Tajikistan.

GPS technology will contribute towards better productivity and higher income for the farmers in Tajikistan.
