The telecoms Regulatory Authority of India allows cable operators and mutli system operators (MSOs)

to offer IPTV services.

Trai has said the cable operators registered under Cable TV Act, 1995 and telecoms service providers having license to provide triple play, will be able to provide IPTV services without any further formalities. This move will help the cable companies that have been looking to offer IPTV services to subscribers apart from offering cable services. The Trai also said any breach of the provisions of Acts or licensing norms governing the IPTV services by cable operators and telecoms, the respective ministry along with regulators will have the right to intertvene into the matter.
