Reliance Communications (Rel Comm) and Srei Infrastructure have bagged an e-Governance project from the government of West Bengal (WB), India.. Rcomm has signed an agreement with the state government for the project.

Rel Comm will set up 1,860 common service centres (CSCs) across the state to provide government-to-government, government-to-business, business-to-business and business-to-consumer services. The project will cover North 24 Parganas, West Midnapur, Burdwan and Purulia districts. Rel Comm will operate on the service delivery platform for rural areas under the national e-governance project, while Srei will cover 14 districts of the state. The company will set up over 3,500 common service centres, and Internet kiosks in every village panchayat and block office. The kiosks will provide information like train timings and examination results and services such as photography, email, e-Ticket booking and computer training for a price. Two kiosks in Tamluk and three in Birbhum are now working as part of a pilot project.
