3i, FINO deal for e-Gov projects in India

3i Infotech, the software services firm has partnered with Financial Information Network & Operations (FINO) to provide financial services through low-cost technology enabled delivery channel using common service centres (CSCs) in India.

The company has invested INR 300 million in setting up CSCs in the states of Haryana and Karnataka as part of an e-Governance project. This joint venture is promoted by four banks, including Union Bank of India, Indian Bank Ltd, Corporation Bank and ICICI Bank. The company and FINO will also explore possibilities of offering financial service in rural population of India. The CSCs are aimed to provide direct access to G2C and B2C services to citizens of India. The G2C services include utility bill payments, land record certificates, e-Filing of tax returns, issuance of income certificates and birth certificates.
