The  Philippines government is keen on implementing information and communication technology (ICT) to boost its the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

Accordingly government would be working closely associated with industry associations and big players in the information technology sector as a way to reach out to MSMEs. But, despite the growing popularity of IT-enabled services in Cebu, only a few MSMEs have adopted the technology. Investing in ICT, MSMEs have proved to achieve higher productivity, raise their competitiveness and create more jobs provided awareness spreads among the people. The government's move in pushing for an ICT blueprint in partnership with several private organisations is hoped to generate $12.8 billion in revenues in the cyber service industry by 2010 and create 1.083 million jobs in the same period.
