India has an average internet connection speed of 772 Kbps compared with the global average of 1.5 Mbps, says ‘State of the Internet’ report by Akamai Technologies, the US-based internet content distribution giant. South Korea has been ranked as the country with the highest percentage of connections on high broadband (greater than 5 Mbps).

BSNL Towers in Semi-Urban Areas to be Leased Out
Four new products have been launched by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) which are, Saarathy (mobile navigation solutions); MI SDK – medical informatics SDK suite with SDK for DICOM and SDK for HL7; EQ-Check (software for computer aided seismic checking and design of concrete structures) and GO-Write (GIST online writer independent text entry).
INR 5,000 crore will be spent by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of Government of India to ensure cellular connectivity in rural areas across the country. Towards this Ericsson will provide low-cost towers.
