India has been talking about e-Governance for the last seven to eight years. With an anarchic Constitutional and administrative system in place, there is hardly any role for e-Governance. However, it would be better to say that India is still in the phase of learning e-Governance
The Minister for IT and Communications of India, Mr Dayanidhi Maran said at a national seminar on e-governance in municipalities that a shortcoming of the Indian IT industry was its failure to come up with world-class products. According priority to e-governance plan for improving service delivery to citizens and businesses, he has proposed enabling certification of products in e-governance domain, jointly with the Ministry of Urban Development.
To help in making the municipal administration more transparent, accountable and responsive a two day National Seminar on e-Governance in Municipalities began on 2nd in Delhi, India.
