Key Appointments

In a series of significant administrative moves, Sanjiv Kumar, a 1992-batch IAS officer, has been assigned to the Government of NCT of Delhi following his repatriation from Central Deputation. Kumar rejoined the AGMUT cadre on November 11, 2024, and will continue in his new role until further notice. Previously, he served as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

Jaspreet Kaur, a 2013-batch IAS officer from the Manipur cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Her tenure, confirmed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on November 18, 2024, will last for four years or until further orders.

Santanu Kumar Agrahari, a 2012-batch IAS officer, has been designated as Private Secretary to V. Somanna, Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Railways, specifically focusing on the Ministry of Railways. The DoPT order issued on November 16, 2024, states that Agrahari’s tenure will be at the Deputy Secretary level until November 28, 2026, or until reassignment.

Prasanna A. Acharya, a 2016-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Director of the Department of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, as well as Director of Printing & Stationery, Goa. Acharya was previously Additional Secretary in the Mizoram School Education Department.


Himanshu Kaushik, a 2018-batch IAS officer, has joined the Government of India as Additional Private Secretary to B.L. Verma, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. Kaushik’s previous assignment was as Additional Resident Commissioner at Andhra Pradesh Bhawan, New Delhi.

In another significant extension, Utpal Kumar Singh, the Secretary General of Lok Sabha (Secretariat) and a 1983-batch Uttarakhand cadre IAS officer, has been granted a one-year term extension. Singh previously served as Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, spearheading policy initiatives across the state.

Further administrative changes are anticipated in the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Administration, following the induction of three IAS officers. IAS M Raju (2005 batch) and IAS Saugat Biswas (2006 batch) are expected to receive senior roles as Commissioners or Secretaries, while IAS Nidhi Malik (2013 batch) may take on responsibilities as a District Collector.
