Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a pioneering state in the fields of IT and electronics, reflecting decades of proactive governance and strategic advancements. About 20 years ago, the state took a bold step by introducing eGovernance services at a time when computer usage was just beginning to take root across the country. What started as a nascent initiative has now transformed into a robust digital governance framework that ensures nearly all government services are readily available online to citizens in a seamless and efficient manner.
A standout success in this journey has been the development of the Nivesh Mitra platform, a comprehensive system aimed at simplifying and enhancing transparency for businesses seeking No Objection Certificates (NoCs) and other regulatory clearances. With the launch of Nivesh Mitra 2.0, the platform has expanded its reach, offering more than 400 services digitally to support and empower the business community in the state.
Uttar Pradesh has also carved out a significant role in electronics manufacturing, establishing itself as a key player. The state now accounts for around 80% of mobile phone production by volume and 75% by value across India, attracting major global giants such as Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and Lava, all of which have set up their manufacturing facilities here. Furthermore, the state has a long-standing history in semiconductor design, hosting design units for some of the world’s leading technology companies for over two decades.
The startup ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh is also brimming with potential, although it currently represents only 10% of the national landscape. Recognizing this, the state is focused on unlocking more opportunities for growth, not just in traditional tech startups but also in sectors like agriculture, defence, education, healthcare, and space technology. On the emerging front of artificial intelligence, the state is preparing to launch its dedicated AI policy, signalling its commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation. I invite investors to explore opportunities in IT, ITES, AI, and drone technology, and to take advantage of Uttar Pradesh’s investor-friendly business environment.
With its investor-friendly policies and a strong foundation in digital infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself as a hub for technological advancement and entrepreneurial success.
