Gujarat, India, is making significant strides towards its renewable energy goals, forging strategic partnerships with international companies to expedite its green energy capacity. The state has entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with MeOH Giga Battery from Australia and Australian Premium Solar Pty Ltd. These collaborations aim to bolster Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity. In addition to these Australian ties, Indian firms Welspun and Kiri Industries have joined forces with German companies Lili Navitas and Sundronix.
These groundbreaking agreements are poised to open new avenues for Gujarat, enabling the export of green ammonia and hydrogen to Europe, thereby contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.
Furthermore, the Gujarat government has unveiled a progressive land allocation plan designed to offer substantial incentives to companies investing in the state’s green hydrogen initiatives. According to this policy, within five years of plant commissioning, companies must achieve 50 percent of their green hydrogen production capacity, and within eight years, they must reach 100 percent of their capacity.

This development comes on the heels of Gujarat’s ambitious renewable energy policy introduced in October 2023, which places a primary focus on harnessing the state’s immense solar potential of 36 GW and wind capacity of 143 GW. The policy sets a lofty target of developing 100 GW of cumulative renewable energy capacity by 2030, with an estimated investment of around Rs 5,000 billion and the utilization of approximately 400,000 acres of land. Gujarat’s commitment to green energy is poised to have a profound impact on India’s renewable energy landscape and contribute significantly to a sustainable future.
