Kochi Water Metro

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Kochi Water Metro ,the country’s first water metro service, connecting Kochi’s islands to the mainland, on Tuesday. PM Modi will attend a number of other events during his two-day visit to Kerala starting on Monday. He will also meet with top church leaders.

The pioneering project will increase tourism while offering residents of Kochi and the surrounding area safe, economical, and convenient transportation. Eight electric-hybrid boats will launch the water metro’s first phase of service on two routes: High Court to Vypin and Vyttila to Kakkanad. The price for a single ticket on the route from the High Court to Vypin has been set at Rs 20. The cost to travel from Vyttila to Kakkanad is Rs 30.

The Kochi Water Metro will provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly passes in addition to single-journey tickets. Commuters can take advantage of special savings on a variety of trip passes as an introductory offer. The price of a weekly trip pass with 12 excursions is Rs 180, and the price of a monthly trip pass with 50 travels good for 30 days is Rs 600. Passengers can book 150 rides with the quarterly pass for Rs. 1,500 over the course of 90 days. The Kochi One app allows users to reserve mobile QR tickets.

The first line, from the High Court to Vypin, will begin operations on April 26 at 7 am, according to Loknath Behera, MD of Kochi Water Metro Limited and Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. The second route, from Vyttila to Kakkanad will start from April 27 at 7 am.
He claimed that passengers will be able to travel in less than 20 minutes from the High Court Water Metro Terminal to Vypin by using the water metro service.


From the Vyttila Water Metro terminal to the Kakkanad terminal, the anticipated trip time is about 25 minutes. The water metro service would initially run from 7 am till 8 pm. Boats will run on the High Court to Vypin route every 15 minutes during peak hours.

The “Kochi 1” card allows users to ride on the Kochi metro and water metro. Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister of Kerala, posted on Facebook that they can also purchase tickets online.
