Haryana’s health department, in an effort to address the regular medical issues of the citizens, directed all district administration to constitute 20 teams consisting of doctors, paramedics and pharmacists, to operate mobile dispensaries. The State’s move is an essential step to aid people suffering from various diseases or health conditions other than COVID-19.

The government has planned to modify Haryana Roadways buses into mobile clinics and the healthcare teams will be using these modified buses to visit different areas of the districts. The mobile clinics will be equipped enough to provide general OPD services and trace people exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.

Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Haryana said, “For mobile dispensaries to function, a minimum of 20 teams have to be formed, which will include doctors, paramedics and pharmacists. They will visit their assigned areas, examine the health condition of people who approach them for check-ups and provide them with medicine.” Moreover, Arora added that the mobile healthcare services should commence latest by Wednesday.

Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana, on April 10, said that there are 250 mobile dispensaries in the state and their number will be increased to 500.

Officials from Haryana Roadways, on April 13, said that the department has received the directions from the Principal Secretary of Transport and the response from the district administration and Chief Medical Officer is awaited.

Four buses of the Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) are deployed to carry health teams from hospitals to containment zones, for conducting thermal screening and door-to-door surveys.

Sudha Garg, District surveillance officer said that the department has received the order and has started preparing the plan to commence the service. Garg said that the survey of a containment zone in Sector 39 is over and as many as 7,800 people were screened with the help of 19 teams. Further, she said that 27 teams have been formed specifically for Pataudi, from where five cases have been reported and 20 teams have been constituted  to visit village Raipur in Sohna, from where around 10 cases have been reported as of yet.

As part of the order, from Tuesday, normal OPDs will start at community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs). At the Sector 10 Civil Hospital, doctors have started operating five OPDs—three for flu, one for general medicine and one for paediatrics—in an open area with mounted tents.
