Niti Aayog has announced creation of 3,000 additional Atal Tinkering Labs under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). The labs aim to innovate workplaces for students between Grade VI to Grade XII, which stimulate innovations combining science and technology.
For the implementation of labs, NITI Aayog has selected 3,000 additional schools, bringing the tally of ATL schools to 5,441.
All the selected schools will receive a grant of Rs 20 lakh for the next five years to establish labs for pushing innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among secondary school children.
With the presence of 5,000 such labs, almost every district of India will have at least one lab to enable an innovation system and students will get to learn technologies like 3D Printing, Robotics, IoT and microprocessors.
These labs under Atal Innovation Mission also help in to establish a collaborative ecosystem, where students, teachers, mentors and industry partners work towards innovation.
