The government has received investment proposals worth Rs.18,000 crore for the ‘Digital India Programme’ in the last six months.
Addressing the 87th annual general meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi, Communication and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that investment proposals worth Rs.18,000 crore have been received for the ‘Digital India Programme’.
Projects worth Rs.4,000 crore have been approved and many more are in the pipeline, the minister said.
Prasad pointed highlighted that the government has initiated a programme – National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN), which proposes seven lakh kilometers of optical fibre to be laid to connect 250 gram panchayats in three years.
