Phagwara GPO first to go online in Punjab

Phagwara’s General Post Office has become the first GPO to go online in Punjab. The core banking solutions (CBS)-enabled GPO was inaugurated by Kulbir Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Punjab and UT Chandigarh Circle.

Earlier, only the UT sub-office had the CBS facility and now it’s Phagwara GPO as well, Singh said. “Now customers will get all facilities available in CBS branches like instant transfer of accounts or certificates and automatic posting of interests at the end of the month,” he said.

An ATM would be installed within three months and debit cards would also be made available to customers, Singh said. Internet banking and mobile banking facilities would also be made available, the Chief Postmaster General added.

A target had been fixed to cover all the 22 Head Post Offices in the state under CBS facility by July 7, he informed.
