Indian Railways is planning to install Wi-Fi services in trains, which will allow passengers to access Internet while traveling.
Government of India is planning to implement wireless Internet Service in trains. This service will allow passengers to access Internet while on the move. Apart from wi-fiing trains, Government is planning to deploy Wi-Fi services in 500 railway stations. RailTel, the railways telecom wing, has tied up with US based Pronto Networks to provide this service. This will allow passengers to access Internet, while waiting for the train. Soon, RailTel will invite expression of interest from interested companies. The service would be free of costs to all passengers in the high-end trains. The wi-fi communication box would be kept in a specialised AC coach in the train. The railways in the US and Europe already have wi-fi systems.
