A global report ranks Bahrain in the top of half of the countries, geared up for information technology.

The kingdom came fourth in the GCC and fifth in the Middle East, according to the report, used as a benchmarking tool to determine a country's information and community technology (ICT) strengths and weaknesses to evaluate progress. The report uses the Networked Readiness Index (NRI), covering a total of 115 economies in 2005-2006, to measure the degree of preparation of a nation or community to participate in and benefit from ICT developments.
