UP Sets ₹5 Lakh Crore Export Target by 2030: Piyush Goyal

Uttar Pradesh is aiming to raise its annual exports to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030, from around ₹2 lakh crore at present. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the target while speaking at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida.

The larger export push is part of the state’s broader economic plans, with greater focus on international markets, investment, tourism and the expansion of local businesses.

Greater Access to International Markets

Goyal said India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) can give exporters from Uttar Pradesh more opportunities to enter overseas markets.

Improved access to international buyers could help businesses from the state expand their customer base and build stronger export networks.

Five Areas Driving the Next Phase

The minister outlined a broad development approach centred on boosting exports, attracting international investment, expanding tourism and creating greater global visibility for products and brands from Uttar Pradesh.

These efforts are also linked to the state’s ambition of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy.

Infrastructure Supports Industrial Expansion

Uttar Pradesh’s growing network of expressways, airports and industrial parks is providing infrastructure for new industrial and commercial activity.

Goyal also pointed to the state’s growing presence in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other technology-intensive sectors, along with the development of robotics manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida.

Trade Show Opens Global Business Links

The UP International Trade Show is serving as a platform for businesses from the state to showcase their products and interact with overseas buyers.

The 2026 edition includes participation from international delegations and exhibitors, along with buyer-seller meetings aimed at creating business connections across markets.

Traditional Products Meet New Industries

The state’s export strategy covers both established sectors and emerging industries. Goyal highlighted the combination of traditional craftsmanship, technology, entrepreneurship and the skills of Uttar Pradesh’s young workforce.

Greater international recognition for products and brands originating from the state is another area being emphasised as businesses look to expand beyond domestic demand.

Centre and State to Work Together

Goyal stressed the importance of coordination between the Central government, Uttar Pradesh government, industry, entrepreneurs and citizens in achieving the export target.

The ₹5 lakh crore goal puts greater emphasis on helping Uttar Pradesh-based businesses connect with international markets while simultaneously expanding investment, tourism, technology and industrial opportunities across the state.
