The extension will take effect from November 1, 2026, shortly before the completion of his existing extension on October 31, 2026. The decision will allow Dr Kota to continue providing administrative leadership to the state.
Second Extension for Ravi Kota
Dr Ravi Kota had earlier received his first extension from May 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026.

With the latest six-month extension, his tenure as Assam Chief Secretary will now continue up to April 30, 2027.
