Parhlad Narayan Meena, IPS (2012: Uttarakhand cadre), has been appointed as Deputy Director (Intelligence & Coordination) in the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on August 20, 2026, the competent authority has approved Meena’s appointment on deputation under the Non-Central Staffing Scheme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Five-Year Deputation at WCCB
Meena will serve as Deputy Director (Intelligence & Coordination), WCCB, for five years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The Uttarakhand government has been asked to relieve him immediately so that he can take up the new central assignment.
The posting will bring his experience as an IPS officer into a specialised organisation working to strengthen the country’s response to wildlife crime.
Focus on Intelligence and Coordination
The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau is a statutory multi-disciplinary body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
It works with enforcement agencies and State and Union Territory authorities to tackle organised wildlife crime and illegal wildlife trade. Its responsibilities include intelligence collection and sharing, coordination of investigations and enforcement operations, and support in combating the trafficking of protected species and their derivatives.
Meena’s new portfolio will focus particularly on intelligence and coordination among agencies involved in preventing wildlife-related offences.
Parhlad Narayan Meena Moves to Specialised Central Assignment
A 2012-batch IPS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, Parhlad Narayan Meena has served in the state policing system before moving to this central deputation assignment.
His five-year tenure at WCCB will give him an opportunity to work in a specialised area involving intelligence gathering, enforcement support and coordination between multiple agencies.
Gangi Reddy Appointed Chhattisgarh Prabhari Officer
In a separate development covered in the same communication, Sreenivasa Rao Gangi Reddy, IRPS (2004), has been appointed as the State Prabhari Officer for Chhattisgarh under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Gangi Reddy, who is presently assigned to the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, will replace Prachi Pandey, Joint Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, in the assignment.
The appointment is part of the government’s administrative arrangements for the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, aimed at strengthening coordination and implementation of tuberculosis elimination efforts.
Prabhari Officers to Coordinate with Health Ministry
Prabhari Officers appointed under the programme have been advised to contact Dr Shobini Rajan, Deputy Director General (TB), Department of Health and Family Welfare, for clarification related to their responsibilities.
The two appointments reflect separate administrative deployments aimed at strengthening specialised government programmes and institutional coordination.
