Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has appointed Srividya Venkataraman as Director (Finance) on its Board with effect from June 24, 2026, following approval from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG). The appointment marks an important addition to the leadership of the Maharatna public sector oil marketing company.

According to a regulatory filing, Venkataraman assumed charge on June 24 and will serve as Director (Finance) for a period of five years from the date of joining, or until her superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Appointment Approved by Ministry

The appointment has been made after approval from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. With Venkataraman taking charge, the additional responsibility of Director (Finance), which was being held by K. S. Shetty, Director (Human Resources), has come to an end.

The transition ensures dedicated financial leadership at HPCL as the company continues to expand its operations and investment plans.
Brings Over Three Decades of Experience

Before joining HPCL, Srividya Venkataraman served as Executive Director (Corporate Treasury) at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). She has more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector, with expertise spanning treasury management, taxation, business finance, capital markets, investor relations, insurance, and risk management.

During her tenure at BPCL, she was responsible for managing the company’s treasury operations, pricing and taxation, pension fund investments, insurance portfolio, and investor engagement activities.
Played Key Role in Strategic Financial Initiatives
Venkataraman has been closely associated with several major financial initiatives at BPCL. She led project financing efforts exceeding ₹30,000 crore for strategic growth projects and played an important role in strengthening the company’s capital structure and investment strategy.
She also contributed to BPCL’s maiden international bond issuance, external commercial borrowings, pension fund management, and implementation of digital finance solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and governance.
Contribution to Government Schemes
Apart from her corporate finance responsibilities, Venkataraman played a significant role in implementing key government initiatives such as the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programme and the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Her work supported efficient subsidy transfers and helped expand access to clean cooking fuel for millions of households across the country.

Strengthening HPCL’s Financial Leadership
As Director (Finance), Venkataraman will be responsible for overseeing HPCL’s financial strategy, capital planning, investment management, budgeting, and corporate finance functions.
