The Global Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit 2025, held on March 12–13, 2026 in Kochi, Kerala, served as a key platform for discussions on renewable energy, green hydrogen, and international cooperation. During the summit, Anne Cremers, Deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for South India, highlighted the Netherlands’ approach to green hydrogen development and the growing partnership between India and the Netherlands in advancing clean energy solutions.

Addressing delegates from government, industry, academia, and research institutions, Cremers emphasised that green hydrogen is emerging as a critical component of the global energy transition. As countries work towards reducing carbon emissions and strengthening energy security, green hydrogen is increasingly being viewed as an important energy carrier capable of supporting sustainable industrial and economic growth.

Green Hydrogen at the Core of Energy Transition

Speaking about the Dutch approach, Cremers noted that the Netherlands has integrated green hydrogen into its long-term energy strategy through a collaborative model that brings together government agencies, research organisations, universities, and private sector companies.

This approach, often referred to as the “triple helix” model, promotes close cooperation between policymakers, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to accelerate innovation and commercialisation of emerging technologies.

She highlighted the role of research organisations and academic institutions in driving technological advancements while supporting the development of practical applications across the hydrogen value chain.

Expanding India–Netherlands Cooperation

Cremers also underlined the growing cooperation between India and the Netherlands in the field of green hydrogen and renewable energy. She noted that both countries share a common interest in accelerating clean energy adoption and fostering innovation-driven partnerships.

The increasing engagement between Indian and Dutch stakeholders reflects the importance of international collaboration in building a robust global hydrogen ecosystem. Knowledge exchange, technology partnerships, and joint initiatives are expected to play a significant role in advancing hydrogen production, infrastructure, and industrial applications.

She also highlighted India’s active participation in global hydrogen forums and conferences, describing it as a reflection of the country’s growing importance in the international clean energy landscape.

Building a Global Hydrogen Ecosystem

The summit discussions focused on strengthening international cooperation across the hydrogen value chain, including production technologies, infrastructure development, research collaboration, and workforce development.

Experts emphasised that achieving large-scale adoption of green hydrogen will require coordinated efforts between governments, industries, financial institutions, and research organisations. Collaborative frameworks can help accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and support the creation of sustainable hydrogen markets.

Platform for Knowledge Exchange and Innovation

The Global Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit brought together policymakers, diplomats, energy experts, investors, startups, and technology providers from across the world to explore opportunities in renewable energy and hydrogen technologies.
