Kochi: The Global Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit 2025, held on March 12–13, 2025, in Kochi, Kerala, brought together policymakers, renewable energy experts, researchers, investors, and industry leaders to discuss the future of green hydrogen and sustainable energy systems. During the summit, Dr. P.K.C. Bose, Chairman of Cambi India and Executive Advisor to the Management Board, Cambi Group Norway, highlighted the growing global momentum around green hydrogen and the evolving collaboration between Europe and India in advancing the sector.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bose emphasised that green hydrogen is emerging as a key pillar in the global clean energy transition and is expected to play a crucial role in achieving long-term climate and decarbonisation goals.

Europe’s Expanding Green Hydrogen Strategy

Speaking on developments across Europe, he highlighted the European Union’s sustained focus on building a comprehensive green hydrogen ecosystem through investments in research, infrastructure, and innovation. The EU, he noted, has been actively working on strengthening hydrogen production capabilities, developing transport infrastructure, and supporting technological advancement through dedicated funding programmes and policy frameworks.

Countries across Europe, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Norway, and Finland, are increasingly investing in hydrogen-related technologies, infrastructure, and research initiatives aimed at strengthening energy security and accelerating decarbonisation.

Dr. Bose also pointed to the importance of hydrogen pipelines, refuelling infrastructure, and integrated energy systems in enabling the large-scale adoption of green hydrogen across industries and transportation networks.

Cross-Border Collaboration and Innovation

Highlighting the significance of international cooperation, he stressed that cross-border partnerships will be critical in building a globally integrated hydrogen economy. Collaborative efforts across governments, research institutions, startups, and industries are expected to accelerate innovation in electrolyser technologies, storage systems, and fuel cell applications.

He noted that several European nations are actively supporting innovation ecosystems through funding programmes and startup-focused initiatives designed to encourage the development of emerging clean energy technologies.

India’s Role in the Global Hydrogen Economy

Discussing India’s growing importance in the global hydrogen landscape, Dr. Bose stated that the country is well-positioned to emerge as a major manufacturing and export hub for green hydrogen, supported by its expanding renewable energy capacity and strong technical workforce.

India’s progress in solar and renewable energy development, he noted, provides a strong foundation for scaling green hydrogen production in the coming years. At the same time, continued investment in infrastructure, supply chains, and policy support will be important for accelerating large-scale deployment.

He highlighted that India’s renewable energy ambitions and manufacturing capabilities could help position the country as a significant contributor to the future global hydrogen market.

Building a Sustainable Energy Future

The summit discussions focused on strategies for scaling hydrogen technologies, strengthening renewable energy ecosystems, and enabling sustainable industrial transformation through clean energy solutions.

Participants explored opportunities around hydrogen infrastructure, renewable power integration, financing mechanisms, and innovation-led partnerships aimed at accelerating the global energy transition.

The event served as a platform for dialogue between governments, technology providers, investors, startups, and research organisations working towards building a low-carbon and sustainable energy future.

With increasing momentum around green hydrogen initiatives globally, experts at the summit emphasised that strategic collaboration, innovation, and long-term policy support will be essential in shaping the next phase of clean energy transformation.
