Kochi: The Global Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit 2025, held on March 12–13, 2025, in Kochi, Kerala, brought together policymakers, global energy experts, investors, technology leaders, and industry stakeholders to discuss the future of renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. During the summit, K.R. Jyothilal, IAS, Former Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Government of Kerala, highlighted the state’s ambitious roadmap for clean energy transition and sustainable development.
Addressing the gathering, Jyothilal emphasised Kerala’s growing role in renewable energy innovation and its commitment to building a future driven by sustainability, technological advancement, and climate-conscious policies.
Highlighting some of Kerala’s pioneering initiatives, he referred to the transformation of the Cochin International Airport into the world’s first fully solar-powered airport and ongoing efforts to further strengthen its clean energy ecosystem through hydrogen-based initiatives and green technology integration.

Discussions at the summit highlighted Kerala’s increasing focus on green hydrogen, energy storage, and clean mobility solutions. Projects involving hydrogen-powered transportation systems and emerging mobility technologies are being explored as part of the state’s broader clean energy strategy.
Jyothilal noted that Kerala is working towards ambitious long-term sustainability goals, including achieving carbon neutrality and expanding renewable energy adoption across sectors. Policy frameworks and collaborative initiatives are being developed to accelerate investments in renewable power generation, hydrogen ecosystems, and sustainable infrastructure.
