Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh AI & Health Innovation Conference 2026, held on 12–13 January 2026 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, brought together policymakers, healthcare experts, technology leaders, and industry stakeholders to discuss the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in strengthening healthcare systems and accelerating digital innovation. During the inaugural session, Dr. Vinod Kumar Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, shared perspectives on India’s evolving AI landscape and its potential to reshape healthcare and economic development.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Paul highlighted the increasing significance of AI and frontier technologies in driving innovation across multiple sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, and governance. He noted that India has steadily strengthened its technology ecosystem and is positioning itself to leverage AI as a catalyst for large-scale transformation.
He reflected on the country’s evolving AI strategy and the efforts undertaken to create a roadmap for technology-led growth. According to him, AI has the potential not only to accelerate innovation but also to generate economic opportunities, strengthen industries, and create long-term societal impact.
Speaking on healthcare transformation, he emphasised the role of AI in improving health outcomes and supporting the development of a more connected healthcare ecosystem. Advanced technologies, he noted, can contribute significantly to disease management, data-driven decision-making, and improved accessibility to healthcare services.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaborations between healthcare institutions, technology ecosystems, and research organisations to build integrated and scalable healthcare systems. Connecting healthcare centres and enabling digital ecosystems, he said, can help improve service delivery and create more inclusive healthcare models.
Addressing the broader AI ecosystem, Dr. Paul stressed the need for rapid adoption, robust infrastructure, and innovation-focused partnerships. He noted that developing technology alone is not sufficient; successful implementation and integration into real-world systems are equally critical.
The conference provided a platform for discussions on AI-enabled healthcare solutions, digital transformation strategies, and collaborative approaches aimed at building future-ready systems.
