Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh AI & Health Innovation Conference 2026, held on 12–13 January 2026 in Lucknow, brought together policymakers, healthcare leaders, technology experts, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming healthcare delivery. The inaugural session was graced by Shri Brajesh Pathak, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh, along with senior government officials and dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Brajesh Pathak emphasised that healthcare innovation and digital transformation are becoming increasingly important in strengthening public health systems. He highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s unique position, noting that nearly one-fifth of India’s population resides in the state, making its healthcare initiatives significant not only regionally but also nationally.

Reflecting on healthcare reforms undertaken in recent years, he stated that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed substantial growth in its medical infrastructure. The state’s healthcare ecosystem has expanded considerably through initiatives such as the One District One Medical College programme. From a limited number of government medical colleges in earlier years, Uttar Pradesh now has a significantly larger network of institutions aimed at improving medical education and healthcare accessibility.

He further highlighted the strengthening of tertiary healthcare institutions such as PGI, KGMU, and the Lohia Institute, while stressing the importance of enhancing advanced care services through strategic planning and targeted investments.

The Deputy Chief Minister also underscored the role of technology and data in healthcare delivery. Uttar Pradesh’s extensive health network, comprising thousands of healthcare centres, continues to provide services including free medicines, vaccinations, and maternal and child healthcare programmes.

Speaking about digital health advancements, he noted that the state has made substantial progress in adopting technology-driven healthcare systems. The increasing adoption of digital health IDs and the use of AI-driven solutions are expected to support improved diagnostics, healthcare planning, and disease management capabilities.

Highlighting the impact of flagship healthcare initiatives, he referred to the implementation of health coverage programmes and technology-enabled services that are expanding access to healthcare benefits across the state.
