Nivedita Dubey

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has appointed Nivedita Dubey as Member (Human Resources), with effect from January 30, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s history. With this appointment, Dubey becomes the first woman to hold the Director (HR) role on the AAI Board.

Prior to assuming charge, Dubey was serving as Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region), Kolkata, where she oversaw the operations of 12 airports across the region. Her elevation to the board is being seen as a notable step in advancing inclusive leadership within India’s civil aviation sector.

As Member (Human Resources), Dubey will be responsible for formulating and implementing AAI’s personnel policies, managing industrial relations, and overseeing commercial management functions. The role places her at the centre of AAI’s efforts to strengthen its human capital and support long-term organisational growth.

Dubey brings over three decades of experience across airport operations, human resource management and airport economic regulation. She joined AAI in 1995 as an Airport Manager and handled terminal and airside operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, including several critical emergency situations during her early years.

In 2023, she became the first woman Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region) of AAI. During her tenure, she led major modernisation initiatives, including the commissioning of new terminal buildings at Patna and Purnea airports, significantly improving passenger facilities and regional connectivity.

Known for her work in industrial relations, staff welfare, and training, Dubey has managed complex labour matters with a record of zero work-hour loss due to industrial unrest. She has overseen trade union referendums, strengthened employee welfare and social security frameworks, and led leadership development and capability-building programmes across the organisation.

An ICAO-accredited International Airport Professional and certified trainer, Dubey has also served as faculty at the Indian Aviation Academy, contributing to the development of future aviation professionals. She studied science at Allahabad University and later earned a postgraduate degree in management from the Motilal Nehru Institute of Research and Business Administration (MONIRBA).

In her new role, Dubey is expected to lead strategic human resource transformation, modernise workforce practices, and drive leadership development in line with AAI’s Vision 2047. Her appointment is widely viewed as a positive step towards strengthening governance and promoting diversity at the leadership level in India’s aviation ecosystem.
