The Delhi government on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to support projects aimed at rejuvenating the Yamuna River, improving water supply systems and strengthening urban infrastructure in the national capital.
The agreement brings RBI into a collaborative role for implementing and supporting development initiatives related to environmental sustainability and public infrastructure. Officials said the partnership will help mobilise technical and institutional support for projects that address long-standing challenges linked to river pollution, water management and civic facilities.
As part of the MoU, priority will be given to projects focused on riverfront development, sewage and waste management, drinking water infrastructure and urban renewal works. The initiative is expected to improve living conditions while supporting the city’s environmental restoration efforts.
A senior official involved in the programme said, “This collaboration will help accelerate critical projects that improve water quality, strengthen supply systems and enhance urban infrastructure in Delhi.”
With the MoU now in place, the Delhi government and RBI will jointly identify and implement priority projects. Detailed planning and phased execution are expected to begin in the coming months, as authorities move toward long-term solutions for sustainable urban development.
