Centre: Appointments & Extensions announced Across Key Departments, Ankit Kumar made  Deputy Secretary MHI

The Government of India has issued a series of appointments and tenure extensions across key ministries and departments.


Hemant Sadashiv Borale (ITS: 2000), Director in the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, Mumbai, under DPIIT, has been repatriated to his parent department to avail promotion benefits.

V Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy (IAS: 2011: TN) has been appointed Director in the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Delhi, for five years. 

Saurabh Kumar (IAS: 2009: CG) has also been appointed Director in the Department of Revenue, Delhi, for the same tenure.


Ankit Kumar (ISupplyS: 2015) joins the Ministry of Heavy Industries as Deputy Secretary for four years.

Prachi Pandey (IA&AS: 2001), Joint Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, has been entrusted with additional charge as Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, from 12.09.2024 to 19.02.2025.


P Hemalatha (IAS: 2000: KN), Development Commissioner, Cochin SEZ, has received a six-month extension of tenure, from 24.04.2025 to 23.10.2025.

Nabarun Dhar (IDAS: 2004), Internal Financial Advisor (Director level) in the CBI under DoPT, has been granted a one-year extension until 19.05.2026. He has been on central deputation since May 2019.

Ashish Thakare (IAS: 2011: OD) has been appointed Director in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for a period of five years.

IES Officers of 2007 Batch Elevated to Joint Secretary-Level Grade

More than half a dozen Indian Economic Service (IES) officers from the 2007 batch have been granted non-functional upgradation to the Senior Administrative Grade—equivalent to Joint Secretary level—effective from 1 April 2025. The officers promoted to this scale include:

  • Chandrani Gupta, Chief Vigilance Officer, Braithwaite, Burn & Jessop Construction Company (Department of Heavy Industries)
  • Bhumika Verma, Director, Department of Expenditure
  • Swayamprava Pani, Additional Development Commissioner, Office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles

  • Prasanth C, Director, BIMSTEC Secretariat
  • Mukesh Kumar, Director, President’s Secretariat
  • Urmila, Deputy Secretary, NITI Aayog
  • Praveen Kumar, Director, Department of Commerce

This move reflects the government’s ongoing implementation of non-functional upgradation (NFU) to ensure parity in career progression among organized services.
