In a landmark move for India’s digital infrastructure, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has laid the foundation for a massive $15 billion Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centre by Google near Visakhapatnam.
A Major Leap in Digital Infrastructure
The upcoming facility, with a planned capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW), is expected to be one of the largest AI data centres in India. It will offer advanced cloud computing capabilities, large-scale data storage, and support next-generation AI applications.
Spread across 600 acres in Tarluvada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli villages, the project will be developed in collaboration with private partners, forming the backbone of a much larger digital ecosystem.
Vision for a Multi-Gigawatt Digital Hub
The Andhra Pradesh government has outlined an ambitious plan to build a 6.5 GW digital ecosystem in the state. This initiative aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leading data and technology hub in India.
Officials believe the project will attract further investments in data centres, cloud infrastructure, and emerging technologies, creating a strong foundation for the state’s digital economy.

The data centre is expected to generate employment opportunities, support startups, and strengthen India’s AI and cloud computing capabilities. It will also enhance the country’s ability to handle large-scale data processing and digital services.
