In a significant step towards sustainable industrial practices, BEML Limited has unveiled India’s first indigenously developed 35-ton Electric Dump Truck at its Mysuru complex. The launch marks a major milestone in the country’s journey toward cleaner and more efficient mining solutions.
The electric dump truck was flagged off by BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy, in the presence of senior officials and industry partners. Designed and built in India, the machine reflects the growing focus on innovation, indigenisation, and environmentally responsible technologies.
Built for demanding mining conditions, the 35-ton electric dump truck combines power with sustainability. It operates on a high-efficiency electric drivetrain, delivering significantly higher energy efficiency compared to traditional diesel-powered vehicles. At the same time, it eliminates tailpipe emissions, making it a cleaner alternative for mining operations.
The vehicle is equipped with advanced features such as a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, regenerative braking system, and a sophisticated battery thermal management system. These technologies not only improve performance but also enhance safety and extend battery life.
Beyond environmental benefits, the truck offers strong economic advantages. Operators can expect substantial savings in energy and maintenance costs, thanks to fewer mechanical components and higher efficiency. The system is designed for quick charging, ensuring minimal downtime and continuous operations in the field.
BEML highlighted that the innovation aligns with India’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable industrial growth. It also reinforces the company’s role as a key player in developing future-ready equipment for sectors like mining, construction, and infrastructure.
Speaking at the launch, CMD Shantanu Roy described the development as a defining moment for the company, emphasizing BEML’s commitment to leading the transition toward cleaner technologies.
