The Government of Karnataka has announced two major initiatives in its latest budget to strengthen science education and skill development in the state. The budget proposes the establishment of a ₹233 crore Science City near Bengaluru and a ₹1,386 crore K-QUEST (Karnataka Quality Education and Skills Transformation) project aimed at improving technical training and employability among students.

These initiatives are part of the state’s broader effort to prepare young people for emerging technologies and the future workforce.

Science City to Inspire Innovation

The proposed Science City near Bengaluru is expected to become a major centre for scientific learning and public engagement with technology. Designed as an interactive space, the facility will feature modern exhibits, learning zones, and educational activities to spark curiosity and interest in science among students and visitors.

Officials believe the project will help promote scientific thinking and inspire more young people to pursue careers in science, research, and technology.

K-QUEST Project to Strengthen Skill Development

Alongside the Science City, the government has announced the K-QUEST project, a large-scale programme focused on improving the quality of technical education and skill training across the state.

With an investment of ₹1,386 crore, the initiative aims to modernise training infrastructure, upgrade technical institutions, and provide students with industry-relevant skills. The programme is expected to bridge the gap between education and employment by aligning skill development with industry requirements.
