Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary on Tuesday presented the Chhattisgarh Budget 2026–27 in the State Assembly, announcing a ₹1.72 lakh crore financial roadmap under the theme “Sankalp”. The budget aims to accelerate inclusive growth by strengthening agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, education, skill development, and livelihood opportunities across the state.

Major Push for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare

Agriculture remains at the heart of the budget, with significant allocations designed to improve farmer incomes and rural productivity:

  • Krisak Unnati Yojana: ₹10,000 crore allocation
  • Electric Pump Subsidies for Farmers: ₹5,500 crore
  • Sugarcane Farmers Bonus: ₹60 crore
  • Comprehensive Dairy Development Scheme: ₹90 crore
  • PM Gramin Sadak Yojana: ₹1,700 crore for rural connectivity
  • PM Housing Scheme (Rural): ₹4,000 crore

Additionally, ₹600 crore has been earmarked for tribal and landless agricultural workers to support economic empowerment and welfare initiatives.

Strengthening Health, Education, and Social Welfare

The budget outlines major social-sector investments aimed at improving quality of life:

  • Mahatari Vandan Scheme: ₹8,200 crore for mothers and children
  • Anganwadi Nutrition & Development: ₹2,320 crore
  • Medical Colleges: To be established in Dantewada, Manendragarh, Kabirdham, Janjgir-Champa, and Kunkuri with ₹50 crore provision
  • Cashless Medical Facilities: ₹100 crore for government employees
  • Swami Vivekananda Excellent School Scheme: ₹100 crore
  • Rani Durgavati Scheme: ₹1.5 lakh assistance for girls at the age of 18

The government also plans to create Education Cities in Abujhmad and Jagragunda, while ₹731 crore has been allocated for university grants and ₹50 crore for modernization of ITI and Polytechnic institutions.

Infrastructure and Urban Development to Drive Growth

A series of infrastructure projects aim to improve connectivity and urban services:

  • Chief Minister’s Rapid Road Connectivity Scheme: ₹200 crore for 36 key roads
  • Indravati Barrage Construction: ₹2,024 crore for Bastar region development
  • Urban Development: ₹200 crore for model city schemes and ₹750 crore for municipal infrastructure
  • Renewable Energy & Electricity: ₹354 crore for free electricity schemes and new substations
  • Metro Rail & Storage Facilities: ₹150 crore for urban projects

Industrial, Tourism, and Regional Development

To promote economic expansion and employment generation, the budget includes:

  • ₹100 crore for development of 23 new industrial parks
  • ₹5 crore for Manpat tourism development, along with additional projects in Bastar
  • ₹75 crore each for Bastar and Surguja Development Authorities

Youth Empowerment and Skill Development

The state has allocated ₹1,097 crore for youth-focused initiatives such as competitive exam assistance, ITI skill training, and excellence centres in government colleges across Durg, Jashpur, Raipur, Balodabazar, and Raigarh.

  • S – Inclusive Development
  • A – Infrastructure
  • N – Investment
  • K – Skilled Human Resources
  • A – Antyodaya (upliftment of marginalized)
  • L – Livelihood
  • P – Policy to Results

Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary stated that the budget is designed to deliver holistic growth by supporting farmers, women, children, youth, and rural communities while strengthening healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

With its focus on inclusive policies and long-term investment, the Chhattisgarh Budget 2026–27 aims to lay a strong foundation for sustainable development and improved livelihoods across the state.
