IAS Neeraj Kumar Singh

In a significant set of administrative developments, IAS officer Neeraj Kumar Singh has been re-designated as Private Secretary at Director level to Union Minister Jitin Prasada, while IAS officer Vikas Kundal has been honoured with the prestigious Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Commendation for his outstanding service in Jammu and Kashmir.

Neeraj Kumar Singh Gets Director-Level Re-Designation

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has officially announced the re-designation of Neeraj Kumar Singh, IAS (2012 batch, Madhya Pradesh cadre). He will now serve as Private Secretary at Director level to Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & Information Technology.

Singh was earlier serving in the same role at the Deputy Secretary level. His elevation reflects the government’s confidence in his administrative capabilities and his effective support in handling ministerial responsibilities.

According to the official order, Singh’s tenure in the upgraded position will continue up to September 29, 2030, with his central deputation formally effective from September 30, 2025.

Senior officials said the re-designation is a recognition of his experience, coordination skills, and contribution to key initiatives in areas such as digital governance, industrial policy, and technology-driven reforms.

IAS Vikas Kundal Receives Prestigious Army Honour

In another notable development, IAS Vikas Kundal (2013 batch, AGMUT cadre) has been awarded the COAS Commendation by the Indian Army for his exemplary administrative leadership during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir.

The COAS Commendation is one of the highest recognitions given by the Army to individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment, coordination, and service in challenging environments.

Kundal was instrumental in strengthening coordination between civil administration and security forces in the sensitive border district. His proactive role in disaster management, public service delivery, and security-related administrative support earned him widespread appreciation from both civilian authorities and the armed forces.

Recognition Across Two Different Domains

Government sources described both developments as examples of professional excellence in distinct spheres of governance.

While Neeraj Kumar Singh’s elevation strengthens policy coordination and ministerial functioning at the national level, Vikas Kundal’s recognition highlights the critical role civil servants play in maintaining stability and effective governance in sensitive regions.

Strengthening Governance and Administration

These developments underline the government’s focus on rewarding merit and performance in public service. Singh’s enhanced role in MeitY is expected to support major technology and governance initiatives, while Kundal’s commendation serves as an inspiration for officers working in challenging field conditions.

As both officers continue in their respective roles, their contributions are expected to further strengthen administrative efficiency, inter-agency collaboration, and citizen-centric governance.
