In a major operational reshuffle at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express will shift a significant portion of their domestic flights to different terminals starting October 26, 2025. The move comes as part of efforts to streamline operations during the ongoing expansion of Terminal 3.
As per Air India’s advisory, 60 of its 180 daily domestic departures will move to Terminal 2, with flights identifiable through new four-digit codes starting with ‘1’ (e.g., AI1737, AI1787). The remaining domestic flights will continue to operate from T3. Air India Express, on the other hand, will relocate all domestic flights to Terminal 1, marked by four-digit codes beginning with ‘9’ (e.g., AI9501, AI9550). All international services will remain at T3.
To assist passengers, Delhi International Airport will operate shuttle services every 10 minutes connecting T1, T2, and T3, alongside buggy services for reduced mobility passengers. Airlines will handle through-checked baggage airside, while others will require manual transfer. T2–T3 transfers can also be covered on foot within 10–15 minutes.

Authorities have advised travellers to reconfirm flight numbers and terminals before departure, with details available via web check-in, boarding passes, Air India’s app, website, and support centres. The reshuffle, expected to impact thousands daily, is described as a temporary measure to ease congestion at T3 until expansion works are complete.
