PM Modi to Unveil Development Projects Worth Over ₹7,000 Crore in Bihar on July 18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar on July 18 to inaugurate a series of developmental initiatives valued at over ₹7,196 crore, marking yet another milestone in the Centre’s continued push toward regional development. The Prime Minister will address a public gathering at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari, the district headquarters of East Champaran.

This visit, PM Modi’s 53rd to Bihar since assuming office, underscores the state’s significance in the central government’s developmental agenda. State BJP President Dilip Jaiswal highlighted the scale and scope of the projects, stating that the initiatives span key infrastructure sectors including railways, highways, rural housing, agriculture, and information technology.

Among the most significant components of the investment is a ₹5,398 crore outlay dedicated to railway infrastructure. This includes new railway lines, station redevelopment, and modernisation of signalling systems—critical enhancements aimed at boosting regional connectivity and freight movement. Another ₹1,173 crore has been earmarked for the construction and upgradation of national highways and rural roads, further strengthening Bihar’s transportation network.

The Prime Minister is also expected to launch IT infrastructure projects worth ₹63 crore, focused on expanding digital access and enhancing e-governance services in rural and semi-urban areas. These projects aim to bridge the digital divide and align with the broader goals of the ‘Digital India’ campaign.

In addition to infrastructure development, the visit will witness major disbursements under welfare schemes. PM Modi will distribute ₹162 crore through direct benefit transfers to 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY-G). The funds are intended to assist rural families in building permanent homes, promoting the government’s vision of “Housing for All.” Moreover, keys to newly constructed houses under the same scheme will be handed over to 12,000 beneficiaries during the function.

The event will also feature the allocation of ₹400 crore in financial support to 61,500 self-help groups (SHGs). This assistance is designed to empower women and promote grassroots entrepreneurship in rural communities. The SHGs, operating across various sectors such as dairy farming, animal husbandry, and micro-enterprises, play a crucial role in fostering economic self-reliance among underprivileged populations.

Speaking ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, BJP’s Dilip Jaiswal emphasised the public sentiment in Bihar, noting, “Bihar, which sees Modi as family, awaits the PM eagerly.” He added that the high frequency of visits is a testament to the Prime Minister’s sustained focus on accelerating Bihar’s growth trajectory.

The scheduled launch of these wide-ranging projects signals the government’s commitment to equitable development and targeted delivery of public welfare schemes. With infrastructure and social development at the core, the initiatives are expected to significantly contribute to Bihar’s economic and human development index
