Indian Startups Shine in WEF’s 2025 Technology Pioneers Cohort for Global Innovation

Eleven Indian startups have been named to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) prestigious 2025 Technology Pioneers cohort, a distinction reserved for early-stage companies globally that are spearheading transformative innovation. This year’s cohort of 100 startups spans 28 countries and showcases breakthrough solutions across sectors including space, energy, healthcare, and mobility.

The Indian contingent reflects the country’s growing stature as a global innovation hub. Notable inclusions are Agnikul Cosmos, which offers affordable and customizable space launch solutions, and CynLr, which is creating intelligent robotics for fully automated industrial processes. In the clean mobility space, Exponent Energy is enabling 15-minute electric vehicle charging with its proprietary battery and charging technologies.

The healthcare sector is represented by Dezy, a startup leveraging artificial intelligence to democratize access to quality dental care. Meanwhile, Digantara provides space surveillance intelligence to global agencies, and GalaxEye is pioneering multi-sensor satellite imaging systems for Earth observation.

Other standout Indian startups include SolarSquare, accelerating rooftop solar adoption in residential markets; Freight Tiger, building a digitised freight network; Equal, which combines identity verification with data sharing; and The ePlane Company, which is working on flying electric taxis to redefine urban transportation.

Now in its 25th year, the WEF Technology Pioneers programme has previously helped propel the global rise of industry-defining companies like Google, PayPal, Dropbox, and SoundCloud. The Forum’s Head of Innovator Communities, Verena Kuhn, emphasised the role of community in scaling bold ideas, stating, “There has never been a more exciting time to dive headfirst into tech innovation. But no one gets far alone—you need a community to move your mission forward.”

The WEF noted the emergence of new global tech hubs beyond Silicon Valley, highlighting the expanding roles of India and China in shaping the next generation of technology. This year’s cohort is hailed as the most geographically diverse and technologically ambitious to date, with startups exploring frontiers such as asteroid mining, quantum computing, and micro nuclear reactors.

As the geography of innovation shifts, the inclusion of Indian startups in this elite group underscores the country’s strategic edge in solving complex global challenges through indigenous, scalable solutions.
