Andhra Pradesh CM Launches AI Hackathon to Fortify Policing

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated his commitment to implementing smart governance and declared a zero-tolerance approach toward criminal activities. Speaking at the inauguration of the AI-Police Hackathon in Guntur, he emphasised the crucial link between strong law and order and attracting domestic and international investments to the state.

The Chief Minister stated that his government would not permit any form of rowdyism or gang-related behaviour, particularly acts of violence against women. He called on police officials to act decisively, ensure swift justice, and restore public confidence in law enforcement. He also referenced his prior governance experience in Hyderabad, where a similar approach had yielded substantial gains in urban development and public safety.

Highlighting the importance of technology in modern governance, Naidu encouraged the integration of artificial intelligence in policing. He noted that tools like drone surveillance, AI-driven crime prediction, and digital monitoring systems would be integral to the state’s crime prevention strategy. The Chief Minister assured that while technology would enhance governance, human intelligence would remain irreplaceable in critical decision-making processes.

Naidu also unveiled plans to launch “WhatsApp Governance” from August 15, enabling citizens to interact with government departments and access services through a familiar digital platform. In a further push for innovation, he announced the creation of India’s first “Drone City” and “Space City” in Andhra Pradesh, aiming to make the state a hub for next-generation technology, innovation, and job creation.

He criticised previous administrations for allegedly allowing criminal elements to operate freely, undermining the rule of law. In contrast, he pledged that his government would uphold transparency, ensure accountability, and maintain public safety as top priorities.

The AI-Police Hackathon, attended by over 160 teams including engineers, start-ups, and law enforcement officials, aims to harness artificial intelligence to solve real-world policing challenges. Naidu called on young innovators to develop practical, scalable solutions that can improve crime response times and resource allocation.

The Chief Minister’s speech also included a stern directive to state police forces to act with resolve in cases involving crimes against women, reinforcing that such offences would be met with the full force of the law. This, he stated, was essential not only for justice but for establishing a safe environment conducive to investment, growth, and public trust.

As Andhra Pradesh embarks on a renewed governance journey, Naidu’s address sets the tone for a forward-looking administration, grounded in law, driven by technology, and committed to citizen welfare.
