Tata Power

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with Rajasthan’s power distribution companies (Discoms) to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar energy in the state. The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aligns with the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijali Yojana (PMSG: MBY) and is aimed at promoting renewable energy among residential consumers.

The MoU was signed between TPREL and Rajasthan’s three Discoms: Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL), Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL), and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL). The signing event was attended by key officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary – Energy, Alok, Chairperson of Rajasthan Discoms, Arti Dogra, along with the Managing Directors of JVVNL and AVVNL. From TPREL, CEO & Managing Director Deepesh Nanda and Chief of Solar Rooftop & EV Charging Business, Shivram Bikkina, were present, along with senior officials associated with the PMSG: MBY initiative and technical representatives from the Discoms.

Objectives of the MoU

The primary goal of this collaboration is to promote the widespread adoption of solar power among residential consumers, making it easier for them to switch to clean and cost-effective energy solutions. Under the partnership, TPREL and Rajasthan Discoms will undertake joint awareness campaigns to educate residents on the benefits of solar power and how to avail themselves of the PMSG: MBY scheme.

The initiative will initially focus on major cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, and Bikaner, before being expanded across the state. Additionally, the agreement provides for exclusive pricing and specialized training programs for vendors, ensuring smooth and efficient solar panel installations.

Strengthening Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Ecosystem

This collaboration is expected to play a crucial role in advancing Rajasthan’s renewable energy goals. Chairperson of Rajasthan Discoms, Arti Dogra, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “Our partnership with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited marks a crucial step in Rajasthan’s journey toward solar energy leadership. Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen the state’s renewable energy infrastructure while ensuring affordable and clean electricity for our residents. This effort is aligned with Rajasthan’s vision of becoming a hub for sustainable and green energy solutions.”

Echoing similar sentiments, TPREL CEO & Managing Director, Deepesh Nanda, remarked, “This MoU is a testament to our commitment to driving India’s renewable energy transition. Leveraging our extensive experience in the solar sector, we will work closely with Rajasthan’s Discoms to implement best practices in rooftop solar installations.
