Hydropower Projects Arunachal Pradesh

In a major boost to Arunachal Pradesh’s renewable energy sector, the cumulative allocated capacity in 35 operational Small Hydropower Projects (SHPs) has reached 570.75 MW, bringing an estimated investment of ₹7,000 crore to the state and generating employment for 7,500 local youths.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister-in-Charge of Power & Hydropower, Chowna Mein, convened a high-level review meeting with SHP developers at his Secretariat Office. He emphasized the state’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Arunachal and India’s net zero goals, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mein assured full government support in resolving local challenges through community engagement but urged developers to accelerate their efforts and demonstrate commitment to timely project completion.

Commissioner (Hydropower) Sonam Chombay highlighted that these projects, once completed, will generate annual revenue of ₹58.25 crore in the form of free power.


During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister felicitated two developers for timely commissioning of their projects:

  • M/S Devi Energies Pvt Ltd, Andhra Pradesh – for the Dikshi HEP (24 MW) in West Kameng District
  • M/S Raajratna Energy Holdings Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad – for the Khangtang HEP (7.5 MW) in Tawang

The state government remains committed to fast-tracking hydropower development, ensuring sustainable growth, and leveraging renewable energy for economic prosperity.
