The Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has implemented a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring 38 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across various departments. The Chief Secretary issued an official order detailing the new appointments and reassignments.

Key Changes in the Administration

As part of the restructuring, 15 government departments have received new secretaries, and the collectors of two major districts, Theni and Coimbatore, have been replaced. Additionally, directors and commissioners in multiple sectors have been reassigned to new positions.

Notable Appointments


  • Maheswari Ravikumar, Former Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, has been appointed as Director, Handloom Department, replacing Mr. A. Shanmugha Sundaram.
  • A. Annadurai, Former Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Marketing Corporation, takes over as Commissioner, Dairy Development and Dairy Farms, succeeding Dr. S. Vineeth.
  • Dr. S. Vineeth, Former Director of Dairy Development and Dairy Farms, has been appointed as Project Director, Tamil Nadu Health Project, with an additional charge as Joint Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, replacing Mrs. V. Kalaiarasi.
  • V. Kalaiarasi, previously Special Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, has been reassigned as Special Secretary, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Minorities Welfare Department, replacing Dr. C. Suresh Kumar.
  • Dr. C. Suresh Kumar, IAS, previously serving as Special Secretary, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Minorities Welfare Department, is now Commissioner, Backward Classes Welfare, taking over from Mr. T.N. Venkatesh.
  • Prajendra Navneet, IAS, currently Additional Chief Secretary, Commercial Taxes & Registration Department, has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Information Technology & Digital Services Department, replacing Kumar Jayant.
  • Ibrahim, previously the Director of the Directorate of Vocational Education, has been appointed as the Commissioner of the Agricultural Marketing and Agribusiness Commission.
  • Kiran Kurla, formerly the Director of the Municipality Directorate, now serves as the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Water Board.
  • L.B. John has been named as the Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation.
  • Anshul Mishra, who was serving as Secretary at Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation, has been transferred to the role of Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Urban Environment Development Board.
  • J. Radhakrishnan has taken charge as Chairman and Managing Director of TANGEDCO, as well as Chairman of Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited.
  • P. Senthil Kumar has been appointed Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department.
  • J. Jayakanthan has been designated as Lock Construction Secretary.
  • Supriya Sahu now serves as Secretary of the Environment, Climate Change, and Forest Department.
  • Mangalat Ram Sharma has been assigned as Secretary of the Water Resources Department.
  • C. Sayammurthy has been appointed as Secretary of the Higher Education Department.
  • B. Chandramohan is now the School Education Department Secretary.
  • Sajjansingh R. Chavan has taken up the role of Lock Construction Secretary.
  • K. Gopal has been assigned to the Special Initiatives Department as Secretary.
  • G. Prakar will oversee the Human Resource Management Department.
  • K. Manivasan has been placed as the Secretary of the Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments Department.
  • S. Madhumati has been designated as Secretary of the Disabled Welfare Department.

District Collector Appointments

The reshuffle has also resulted in changes at the district level:

  • Pawan Kumar G. Giriyappavanar has been appointed as the Collector of Coimbatore District.
  • Ranjeet Singh, formerly Commissioner of Salem Corporation, now serves as the Collector of Theni District.
