
Torrent Power Limited has announced an investment of ₹18,000 crore to set up a state-of-the-art thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the state’s industrial potential at the Regional Industry Conclave (RIC) in Shahdol, which drew total investment proposals worth ₹32,520 crore and is expected to generate over 30,000 jobs.
Naveen Kumar Singh, Vice President of Torrent Power Limited, lauded Madhya Pradesh’s conducive investment environment, stating, “The state’s policies and infrastructure are highly supportive. Investment approvals are timely, and facilities for electricity, water, and other infrastructure are excellent.” The project is projected to generate direct and indirect employment for over 7,000 individuals.
Investment Surge at RIC Shahdol

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the state’s industry-friendly policies, noting that investments exceeding ₹4 lakh crore have been secured through six RICs, creating over 3 lakh jobs. The Shahdol conclave alone received investment proposals totalling ₹32,520 crore, promising more than 30,000 job opportunities, with 95% of the investments targeted at Shahdol and nearby regions.

Major proposals at the Shahdol RIC included:

- Torrent Power Limited: ₹18,000 crore for a thermal power plant
- Shri Bajrang Power and Ispat Limited: ₹3,300 crore in the mining sector
- Select Builders: ₹2,500 crore in renewable energy
- Sharda Energy and Minerals Limited: ₹2,500 crore in mining
- DDTC Exim Limited: ₹1,200 crore in the textile sector
Focus on MSMEs and Infrastructure Development
The event also focused on strengthening the MSME sector, with Letters of Intent (LoIs) issued to 102 industrial units, allocating 401 acres of land. These units are expected to attract investments of ₹3,561 crore and create 9,561 jobs.
Additionally, the foundation stone for the Industrial Park at Gohparu, covering 51 hectares with an estimated cost of ₹16.31 crore, was laid. The conclave also saw the inauguration of 30 industrial units, including 18 in the Shahdol division.
Educational and Technological Advancements
Chief Minister Yadav announced several initiatives to boost education and technology in the region. These include introducing new courses at UIT Engineering College, Shahdol, such as computer science with a focus on drone technology and IoT, and part-time postgraduate mining engineering programs. Facilities like a transit hostel, central workshop, and sports ground are also set to be developed.
