Inder Pal Singh Sethi Takes Charge as Director General of NIC, Succeeds Rajesh Gera

In a significant appointment, Inder Pal Singh has taken charge as the Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) today. With years of expertise in e-governance and technological innovation, Sethi previously served as Deputy Director General and Scientist-G at the NIC, showcasing his dedication to advancing India’s digital transformation.


Sethi succeeds Rajesh Gera, who served as Director General since May 31, 2022. Gera’s extensive tenure of over 31 years at NIC included contributions to several critical divisions such as the Video Conferencing Division, Satellite Network Division, Aadhaar Authentication Division, Labour and Employment Informatics Division, and the National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW) Project.

With a robust background in IT systems and governance, Sethi’s appointment is expected to further propel NIC’s mission of enabling digital governance across the nation.
