Gujarat government

The Gujarat government has announced the promotion of 40 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across various batches, effective January 1, in a significant administrative reshuffle. The promotions, granted “in situ,” will see officers continue in their current roles while ascending to higher ranks.

  • Vatsala Vasudeva (1995 Batch): Elevated to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). She presently serves as Managing Director of Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.
  • D Thara (1995 Batch): Also promoted to ACS. She currently holds the position of Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
  • 2000 and 2009 Batches: Officers from these batches have been promoted to the rank of Principal Secretary. However, official announcements remain pending due to upcoming transfers, particularly affecting six 2009 batch officers serving as collectors.
  • 2012 Batch: Seventeen officers have been elevated to the Selection Grade. Many of these officers serve as Collectors, District Development Officers (DDOs), and Municipal Commissioners across Gujarat.
  • 2016 Batch: Twelve officers have been promoted to the Junior Administrative Grade.
  • 2021 Batch: Nine officers have advanced to the Senior Time Scale.
