Uttar Pradesh government


The Uttar Pradesh government has executed a significant reshuffle in the state’s police department, reassigning 31 IPS officers in a move aimed at strengthening law enforcement and administrative operations. The transfers, carried out in separate directives, were issued back-to-back on 7th January.

On January 7, 17 IPS officers were reassigned, including eight Superintendents of Police (SPs) from districts such as Sultanpur, Amroha, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mainpuri, Kannauj, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, and Basti. Notable transfers include 2012-batch IPS officer Somen Verma, who takes over as SP of Mirzapur, and Kunwar Anupam Singh of the 2013 batch, who becomes SP of Sultanpur. Following the transfer of 17 IPS officers, 14 more officers (promotee) were reassigned to key positions, marking a decisive shift in the state’s law enforcement landscape. 


Prominent changes include the appointment of Dharamvir Singh, a 2010-batch IPS officer, as DIG of the 6th Battalion PAC in Meerut, and Ajay Kumar (2011 batch) as Additional Police Commissioner in the Noida Commissionerate. Arvind Chaturvedi, also from the 2011 batch, will serve as DIG of Vigilance and Establishment in Lucknow.

Key assignments feature Dinesh Singh as DIG at the DGP office in Lucknow, Arvind Kumar Maurya as DIG of the Traffic Directorate, and Subhash Chandra Shakya leading Prison Administration and Correctional Services. Sameer Saurabh has been appointed SP for the CBCID in Prayagraj.


Additional appointments include:

  • Mohd. Irfan Ansari as SP at UP Police Headquarters, Lucknow.
  • Rashmi Rani as SP at Intelligence Headquarters, Lucknow.
  • Rajesh Kumar Srivastava as SP at DGP Headquarters, Lucknow.
  • Vishwajeet Srivastava as Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Police Commissionerate.
  • Amrita Mishra as SP at the DGP office in Lucknow.

Among district-level changes, 2014-batch IPS officer Abhinandan moves from Mirzapur to Basti, while Vinod Kumar of the same batch becomes SP of Kannauj. Other notable transfers include 2013-batch officer Ganesh Saha, now SP of Mainpuri, and 2018-batch officer Abhimanyu Manglik, promoted to SP in Bhadohi.

In senior positions, 1992-batch officer Deepesh Juneja, DG of Prosecution, takes on additional responsibilities as head of the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID). Other reassignments include 2003-batch IPS officer Nachiketa Jha as IG Establishment and 2006-batch officer Shalabh Mathur as IG Personnel.
