IPS Officers


The Gujarat government has promoted 12 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in a major reshuffle, signalling its commitment to enhancing police leadership in the state. Among the notable promotions, Dr. Neerja Gotru, a 1993-batch officer renowned for her work during the Aarushi Talwar murder case investigation with the CBI, has been elevated to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP). She will continue to head the Police Recruitment Board, with her ex-cadre post upgraded to align with her new rank.

Key Promotions Include:


  • Dr. Neerja Gotru: Promoted to Director General of Police (DGP), retaining her position as Head of the Police Recruitment Board.
  • Nipuna Torawane: A 2000-batch officer, promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP). Her role as Secretary (Home) in the Gujarat government has been upgraded to Principal Secretary, with continued responsibilities in the same capacity.

2011-Batch Officers Elevated to DIG of Police:

  • Hitesh Joysar (SP Surat Rural)
  • Dr. Tarun Duggal (SP Mehsana)
  • GA Pandya (SP Surendranagar)
  • Chaitanya Mandlik (SP CID Crime)
  • Saroj Kumari (SP Western Railway, GRP Vadodara)
  • RP Barot (DCP Zone-5 Surat City): Promoted to DIG, with his post upgraded to Additional Commissioner of Police.
