
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has entered into a strategic partnership with H2Global Stiftung to advance India’s green hydrogen objectives. The collaboration formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 19, 2024, aims to establish a strong framework to promote green hydrogen initiatives. The partnership will focus on enhancing knowledge exchange, particularly in market-based mechanisms, and fostering international cooperation between India and key importing nations. This initiative is set to play a vital role in supporting the global growth of the green hydrogen economy.
The MoU was signed by Shri Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar) at SECI, and Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director of H2Global Stiftung, in a ceremony attended by prominent dignitaries. These included MMrTimo Bollerhey, CEO of HintCo; Mr Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of H2Global Foundation; Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, Secretary of MNRE; Shri Abhay Bhakare, Mission Director of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM); DDrPrasad Chapekar, Deputy Secretary at MNRE; and Shri K R Jyothi Lal, Additional Chief Secretary of Kerala. The presence of such esteemed leaders underscores the importance of this collaboration in shaping the future of green hydrogen both in India and globally.
The partnership envisions joint efforts to design and structure tenders that align with India’s strategic goal of becoming a global hub for the production and export of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. This collaboration will not only strengthen India’s domestic green hydrogen capacity but also enhance its position in the international market by addressing trade logistics, market access, and stakeholder engagement. By leveraging H2Global’s expertise in global hydrogen markets, India is poised to gain invaluable insights into international trade dynamics, enabling the country to make significant strides in advancing its green hydrogen agenda.

Furthermore, this MoU reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to accelerating the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon energy future. Through this collaboration, SECI and H2Global Stiftung will work together to foster innovative solutions and promote the scaling up of green hydrogen technologies, which will be instrumental in supporting India’s energy security and environmental goals.
